Disclosure: Thanks to Hush Puppies for making this post possible.
If you are a shoe-lover / shoe-a-holic / shoe-hoarder, then this post might be the one you were looking for on this #TuesdayShoesday. Honestly, buying a pair of shoes is a stressful task, but with the help of the five rules I am sharing today, you can make this process less stressful and more fun....
Rule 1) SHOP AT THE END OF THE DAY - this rule is like the ruler of the all the rules. In case you weren't aware: your hands and feet tend to swell throughout the day, leaving you plumped up by the evening. Buying a pair of shoes in the morning, will definitely be painful, if you try em out in the evening. So it is always recommended to buy shoes on your way back from work, when your feet are done seeing the worse.
Rule 2 ) TRY ON A FEW SIZES BEFORE FINALIZING - if you happen to be shopping at a store, don't settle on your normal shoe size. Try on a few sizes up and down just to see how the shoe looks and feels. Especially when closed shoes are under consideration, I would highly recommend trying on at least 2 sizes up. I have had so many friends tell me that for mules, going up half a size up has worked better than their normal size.
Rule 3) IF YOU CAN'T WALK IN THEM, DON'T BUY THEM - rule of thumb ' if you can't walk in the shoes, don't buy them !' A pair of uncomfortable shoe bought under emotional influence, just because they looked beautiful, can satiate the physical desire, but trust me- those shoes will never see the natural light. I am guilty of it and I have now learn't this rule the hardest way possible.
Rule 4) DON'T RUN AFTER TRENDS - the grass is always greener on the other side, but have you ever tried to find out what the grass has to be like to look that green ;) ?? For instance : clunky platform wedges that have been spotted everywhere, might appeal to you, but girl if you have skinny ankles like me, then don't even bother to try them on. You definitely don't want to mock your appearance. Plus if you are clumsy, then please ditch heels, that surely need extra pair of stilts to facilitate easy walking.
Rule 5) BEFRIEND A SALES ASSOCIATE - if you ever ask a shoe-a-holic her secret to scoring fabulous shoes at great deals - then you would know that after shoes, the sales-associate is their BFF. A sales rep can alert you of sales on your favorite brands, help you locate your size across all the stores nationwide, can occasionally get you deeper discounts too. Associates are always looking to maximize their commission, but the most important thing to them is building a relationship with a customer, so that you become a repeat customer. So remember "loyalty pays " !
