Stutter by Joe.

Posted on the 30 January 2013 by Melodicwisdom

I haven’t written about an R&B or Hip-Hop song in a while so here’s one from way back when about a guy who suspects his girlfriend of cheating on him. I haven’t heard the song in years and listening to it makes me think of two other songs about the same topic. Maybe I’ll cover those soon too…

Stutter was released as a single in 2001 from Joe’s third album, My Name is Joe. The lyrics were written by Ernest E. Dixon and Roy “Royalty” Hamilton. The song went to #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and Hot R&B chart. It also went to #7 in the United Kingdom.

It really seems like the songs about abusive relationships and cheating are most successful on the charts. Sad. If only relationships weren’t so hurtful…

An alternate version ft. Mystikal can be found HERE.

In 2012, the rock group My Darkest Days did a cover of the song. Check it outHERE.
