SOVEREIGN #1 Review

Posted on the 18 March 2014 by Geekasms @geekasms

Sovereign is the new creator owned series from Image comics that has many stories from different groups of individuals. Image Comics explains it like this:

An epic fantasy in the tradition of Game of Thrones, SOVEREIGN is set in a world which once knew gods, demons, and magic, and to which all three are returning. New York Times bestselling author CHRIS ROBERSON (Edison Rex, iZombie) joins artist PAUL MAYBURY (POPGUN, Catalyst Comix) to tell the story of masked undertakers facing the undead with swords, of civil wars and cultures in collision, of ancient threats emerging from the ashes of history to menace the future…

This book was broken up into 3 parts: Leaving Silence, Blade and Bow, and From the Depths.  Each part tells a different story from different people in what seems like different points of time.  I will admit, I am a bit confused with this title.  I am  a pretty simple minded person and I had a bit of trouble following what exactly was going on.  I read the book because it was a new series and that is where I like to start reading from…the beginning.  I am not too thrilled with this title right now.  The genre and style of the book wasn’t my cup of tea, but then again, I don’t drink tea.  Image said it well in this being in the tradition of Game of Thrones.  I hear that show is hard to follow too but if you are a fan of that, you might enjoy this book.
