South Korea is the latest country to join the Hague Convention for International and Inter-Country Adoption. South Korea is joining such countries as the United States and Germany.
The Hague Convention is an international agreement to safeguard intercountry adoptions and has been in place since 1993.
The Health Minister of South Korea, Jin Young, signed the agreement that helps to safe-guard children, birth parents and adoptive parents all while supporting the goal of finding forever families for children in need. In addition, the agreement also helps with the problem of child trafficking that sometimes plagues the South Korea adoption system.
