I liked Daughtry when they first came out but their songs grew old fast. It’s Not Over was over-played and that’s always the killer for singles. The next few years saw songs slowly being deleted from my playlist until there was only one left: Sorry. And it remains there today.
Sorry is an iTunes bonus track from Daughtry’s self-titled debut, released on November 21, 2006. I remember my roommate purchased the album from iTunes while I had the CD and didn’t know about the bonus track. After she sent it to me, I couldn’t believe the song didn’t make the final album cut. I still think it’s one of their best songs.
The lyrics are simple – it’s about an apology. The singer wants to explain things and hopes that the girl will listen. He hopes she will forgive him.
When I say I’m sorry, will you believe me? Listen to my story, say you won’t leave me. When I say I’m sorry, can you forgive me? When I say I’ll always be there, will you believe?
