Posted on the 27 February 2014 by Anna Peterson

Imagine if you could watch your favorite TV show and have additional info about it show up while you’re watching it or watching a football game and seeing names of players and their stats displayed on the screen. These are just some of the many functions that Sony’s SmartEyeglass will be able to offer. The company unveiled this tech at the CES 2014 and it’s still in its prototype stages.

Sony revealed the Eyeglass at CES 2014.

This fantastic piece of tech won’t come cheap!

The SmartEyeglass aims to bring notifications and any information in your line of vision while you’re watching something on television. According to Sony, the SmartEyeglass will mainly be used for sports events, but it will have more features. The Eyeglass houses two small LED projectors that register data onto a holographic strip in the glasses. It has transparent, 1 mm thick lenses and weighs 40 g. The Eyeglass displays information in bright green, although a representative from Sony said that this could be adjusted. The interaction between the glasses and another device will be achieved via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.

Like we said, the Sony SmartEyeglass is still just a prototype, but Sony expects to have them out by the end of 2014. The pricing details are yet to be revealed, but the Eyeglass could cost around $1000 (roughly €730).
