In the hands of singer-songwriter Sondre Lerche, Miley Cyrus’ gutsy break-up ballad “Wrecking Ball” is surprisingly subtle, and even sweet. Each year around the holidays, Lerche gifts his fans with a brand new cover, just like our very own indie Nisse (that’s Norwegian Santa Claus, in case you didn’t know). While it’s been covered by pretty much everyone and their mom this year, Lerche’s version of “Wrecking Ball” is particularly fun; in a written message, he called the track a “robust little fucker” that “can withstand inhumane acts of twerking, overexposure, and yet another unwarranted cover.”
