Ryan Lott, better known by his stage name Son Lux, recorded his orchestral art-pop album, We Are Rising, in 28 days in February 2011 for the RPM Challenge. ”Lost It To Trying” continues in a similar vein, including processed orchestral instruments and an organic but over-the-top anthemic vibe. Through all of his exploring of sound, one eventually becomes unaware of whether certain sounds are electronic synths or acoustic instruments. The blurring of this line is central to Son Lux’s music but by no means contains it. ”Lost It To Trying” develops in a natural way, exploring sudden dynamic shifts and refrain singing while the electronic orchestra circles around frantically.
