In the wise words of my mom: “Nothing ventured nothing gained”
I have come to ponder upon that thought of late. Where is life taking me and am I really ‘living’ life ? Am I being caught up in the mundane of life because deep down I am afraid to live?
This leads me to today’s blog entry. I have come to realize that nothing in life costs you nothing, but if anything you have more to gain than to lose. If we fail at the things we venture… the world will not come to an end. You will merely ‘die’ for a moment in time, pick yourself up again and life will continue. As simple as that; time waits for no one…absolutely no one. No one really cares if you fail or succeed, it all about whether you have the guts to DO. Lets look at the girl who falls pregnant at the tender age of 18 or even younger… her life does not end merely because she is with child… she becomes and grows into another sphere of life… she becomes something new, if she chooses to embrace the moment. She embraces the beauty of birthing life and being able to impart that which she is into another being. Let us live for what we have now and what we can enjoy now.
At the end of our ‘young’ lives we are faced with the ‘what-ifs’ and the ‘if-onlys’ … and we are left with the stench of fear and incompetence merely because we ‘did not try’. After a few conversations with two of my closest friends I have come to the realization that life is worth living now. I refuse to live in the future of what I would like to happen… what is happening now?
So this brings me to my wonderful announcement that I Deidre Mackenna along with my friend Bianca Josias, have started our own party business. Whether we fail or succeed… I am happy to have tried. We have the skills to make this work and for once we choose to believe that this is possible even though it kills us, we will work at it.We will keep our heads above water and focus on the fact that God has graced us with such creativity. After many years of doing it for others, we have finally realized that we are able to do it for ourselves… So here is to ‘Something ventured…something gained’
