I've been trying my best to get back into books as they've been badly neglected over the past year and thought I'd ease myself in with some lighter reads. I picked these three books as they're on the shorter side and all give you the kind of stories that could have you smiling like a crazy person one minute and bawling your eyes out the next. I'm one of those people who gets more emotionally attached to stories than is probably considered normal, which makes these three books the perfect choices for me.
One of my newest favourites is of course The Perks of Being a Wallflower, a story that makes you fall in love with Charlie who is just trying to grow up and find his way through high school. I've since watched the film and was so happy with the adaption that I picked the book up again and had another read. There were times when I would laugh out loud, and other times when I just wished I could somehow get through the book and find Charlie to give him a big hug. All in all a great read and a great watch as well, so I'd definitely recommend them both!
Now there's no doubt that my favorite film has always and always will be The Notebook. I saw the film before reading the book but David (being the fab boyfriend that he is) bought me both the DVD and book for our first Christmas and I've since fallen in love with the book too. I'm sure most of you will know the story of The Notebook, but a quick summary for anyone who needs it is that the book is the love story of Allie and Noah who quickly fall in love but end up apart. If there's ever a book that has made me cry my eyes out, it's definitely this one. I'd definitely recommend it to fans of the film, or indeed anyone who can't resist a good love story.
Next on my list is Looking for Alaska by John Green which I've been hearing great things about. I haven't had the chance to concentrate on this one because of so much dissertation work lately but as soon as the workload eases off, I'll be sure to pick this one up. Are you a fan of any of these books?
