I crossed my Snowflake Resist posting with my Art Trading Card class and came up with this project today. I also tested out my “poor man’s watercolor supplies” which I think give the best results for the least amount of money. All you need is Strathmore Kid Series Drawing paper and Dick Blick Liquid Watercolor Paint, in this case applied to a rubbing of a wooden star from Michaels.
1. The laser cut stars from Michaels are beautiful, but very delicate. Use a tacky glue to attach it to a sheet of chip board. Let dry.
2. Tape a sheet of paper over the board and rub with the side of a white crayon. Rub in several directions to insure that all the shapes are colored. This drawing paper works better than real watercolor paper as it is thin, takes the rubbing really well, and still keeps the paint looking fresh.
3. Remove the paper and paint with watercolor paint. I used my favorite Turquoise Blue. Let dry.
4. Cut the paper into 7.5" x 10.5" overall art. Then cut into 2.5" x 3.5" panels and slide into a plastic sleeve as shown.
