This movie is all about Kristen Stewart and the myriad expressions on her face, when she was playing dead in the movie. When she was alive, and delivering powerful speeches to raise the morale of her army, even the Stonehenge looked full of emotions compared to her facial expressions in this movie. You would know what I mean when I say that the best expression she had on her face was this:
But honestly, all is not bad about Snow White and the Huntsman. There's more to it than simple an expressionless Kristen Stewart.
The story of Snow White has a nice twist to it. In this movie, contrary to the original fairy tale, the Huntsman ordered to take Snow White into the woods to be killed winds up becoming her protector and mentor in a quest to vanquish the Evil Queen. And Chris Hemsworth as the Huntsman is a treat to watch.
So is Charlize Theron! She looked absolute drop dead gorgeous in this movie. Theron, playing Queen Ravenna or the evil Queen, would make your blood curl up every time you see her get into a hissy fit. Her character was very appropriately symbolized by a raven: a carrion bird that feeds off of death for its own benefit. Her beauty is objectified. Instead of allowing herself to be vulnerable she embraces the objectification and uses it to spread death and destruction for her own gain. But honestly, she needn't be afraid of Snow White because she looked way more beautiful than Snow White!
The CGI in the movie was at par. The dwarfs were a treat to watch. But none of these were enough to save the movie from its protagonist who could neither convince nor captivate the audience, not even for a single moment, throughout the movie.
