Smoking Run

By Nicoleao @momfever

smoking runIt is often said that if you become a runner, your whole lifestyle automatically becomes healthier. You start to eat better foods, and you cut out bad habits. It’s simple really:

Running makes you more aware of your body, and what it can do. So you start to take better care of it.

Air, I need some air!

Do you remember your first run? Chances are you were gasping for breath. You needed all the oxygen you could get! So why make it more difficult for your body to get some of that precious O2?!

If you like to ‘light one up’, that’s exactly what you’re doing. You’re making it more difficult for your body to get oxygen. You’re reducing your lung capacity. So smoking and running do NOT go together like a horse and carriage. Or maybe a carriage with only three wheels, and a horse that’s lame.

Use running to quit smoking: changing addictions

But what if you’re an avid smoker? Then I have good news for you! Once you quit smoking you’ll start craving something to fill the void. I say, choose wisely and pick running as your next habit. Only this time it will be a good habit. You can even use the hard times you’re having kicking the cigarette to the curb, as a sign you should go for a run.

Every time you feel the urge to smoke,  put on your running shoes and go for a run!

How about e-cigarettes?

Some smokers look to Ecigs as an easier way to kick their smoking habit. Electronic cigarettes work on batteries, and may or may not look like real cigarettes. E-cigarettes release water vapor, so it still looks like you’re smoking. That’s why they’re also called vaporizer pens. And you still get your nicotine fix because the water vapor is laced with it. But you don’t get the tobacco.

Nevertheless, there’s a lot we still don’t know about the long term effects of e-cigarettes. So when facing the choice between smoking tobacco cigarettes, E-cigs and running, the choice is simple:

You should choose running.

It’s good for your health, and it will make you look smoking hot.

Without the smoke.
