AROUND a thousand runners are expected to show up for the beat and festive mood of the 2016 Sinulog Fun Run slated Jan. 3 at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC).
The cash rich foot race is organized by the Sinulog Foundation Inc. It is the only race that traverses the official carousel route of the Sinulog Grand parade. The entire carousel route measures a distance of five kilometers.
Ricky Ballesteros, the organizer of both the Sinulog Fun Run and Sinulog Festival, said they are expecting to draw around a thousand runners on race day, just like what they've seen in the previous edition of the race.
Among the highlights of the race is the festive mood in the carousel route.
The running event will also give out huge cash prizes to the winning runners. The champions, both male and female, will walk away with P10,000. Second placers get P5,000 and third placers will win P3,000. The fourth to fifth placers will receive P2,000 and P1,500, respectively, while the sixth to 10th placers will receive P1,000 each.
Aside from the competitive race, the best costumed runner (male and female) will also take home P3,000 while the fastest running club and the best costumed running club will each win P5,000.
