As we welcome summer and massive heat waves, feel jolly, frolic and free-spirited while tipping our imaginary hats to the sun smiling down on us, it's sunny, summery tunes we yearn for, the shiny and vibrant kind; good news is, Acadian Driftwood's novel and moony retro-gem 'Rain Falling In' finds the perfect balance between mellifluously melting melodiousness and floating tonal vibrancy, arrives right on time for breezy, pensive summer days with its uplifting and nostalgic, wistful and vivifying melodic flair.
When the three liverpudlians (Robert Johnson, John Ellwand and Adam Lewis) started out making music under the name of Acadian Driftwood early last year, their sound was easy to label as blues-infused rock-n-roll refined with blissful, country-esque harmonies; summa summarum: an alluringly attractive blend of all the fine genres there are in music (point of reference: debut EP 'Working Title'). With new single 'Rain Falling In', melodic hints of country and blues are evoked again while being intertwined with languorous and invitingly idyllic instrumentals. Robert's and John's vocal performance moreover aesthetically adds to the song's natural charm throughout, sounds heavenly harmonious in embracing an apollonian and ardent tone alike. Complemented by arcadian and passionately blue b-side 'Mother's House', Acadian Driftwood's first release in 2017 is, without any doubt, one to spend some delightful, sun-kissed hours with.
