Simple Interest

By Unefemme @DejaPseu

Outfit with embroidered teeLayering is one of my favorite ways to add interest to a simple outfit, but during warmer months that’s sometimes just not workable. Some like wearing prints, but I’m mostly Print-Averse. I’d been looking at lightweight embroidered tops earlier in the season, and while I love those Boho-inspired looks, they just didn’t work for me. So when I spotted this simple embroidered top at Sandro in Paris, I had to try it on. I love the Asian-inspired motif, and the fabric is very light.

I’ve washed it (gentle cycle, cold water, in a lingerie bag) and it line dries within a few hours. I wore it on our last day in Paris when it was beginning to get quite warm, and was comfortable, didn’t overheat.

Wearing: vintage pearl earrings (similar) | top | jeans (similar) | ring | watch | bag | sandals

Lip color is NARS “Red Square.”

I’m wary of too many focal points in an outfit, but I think the red bag works well here. Usually I find black and red on their own too harsh, but the denim in the mix softens it up. The ring is from the new French Kande fall collection, and is very comfortable to wear.

Stuart Weitzman suede tassel sandals
I’m afraid the Stuart Weitzman sandals above are almost sold out everywhere, but I think these are a nice alternative (albeit with a lower heel) and I’ve included a few other tasselled sandals in the widget below.

How do you add interest to a simple outfit in warm weather?
