SHOPAHOLIC: Obsessed Much?

SHOPAHOLIC: Obsessed much?

When it comes to fashion, I got through phases where I get fixated on one particular item and them buy them in different colours. Or if it’s not one particular item, I go through a color phases where I buy a lot of things in the same color.

When I was twenty-one I went through a white phases over the Summer where I bought everything and everything white. Sunglasses, beach dresses, Havaianas, bikini, jewellery… you name it. If it was white, I bought it and to make matters worse I actually wore from head to toe out in public.

The following Summer I went through a bandana stage where I bought paisley bandanas in many different colours so it would suit every outfit I wore. No joke, I wore a bandana – every – single – day – and if it wasn’t on my head, I wore it as a fashion accessory around my wrist.

What a tragic state of affairs.

These days I tend to gravitate towards patterns, knits and insisting to wear short skirts in the middle of Winter. And if it’s not just one particular item, it’s an entire outfit.

At the moment, I’m in love with black and white horizontal striped dressed…

Teamed up with coloured or patterned stockings, warm knee-high boots, a long wooly cardi and a beanie.

So it comes to no surprise that when I see several different people I wear the same outfit over and over and over again and I don’t even know how often I wear it til someone says to me, “You wore that the last time I saw you…” several dates later.

I’ve even tried to mix it up a little; wear different dresses in different colours, don’t wear the beanie, add a scarf or wear it with pants (which is extremely rare because I don’t wear pants – ever).

But is anyone else like me and get obsessed with an outfit or an item of clothing or color and wear it like it’s going out of fashion? (Pardon the pun). That way I feel less like a fashion victim.
