I really like the music in this song…specifically the beginning before the song picks up. I actually forgot about this track until I ran across it earlier this week. I don’t know much about The Black Crowes so I definitely had to do some research on this one…
She Talks to Angels was released in 1990 from the band’s debut album, Shake Your Money Maker. It went to #30 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and stayed on the charts for 16 weeks. According to an online interview, lead singer Chris Robinson stated that the song is about a goth girl he knew in Atlanta who was addicted to heroin. The lyrics are actually based on fiction, she was just the idea for the song’s creation – he wasn’t actually friends with her.
