Shah Abdul Latif and his poetry
Shah Abdul Latif (1689 – 1752) was a Sindhu Sufi scholar, mystic, saint, poet, and musician. He is regarded as the direct emanation of Rumi and his spirituality in South Asia. Sindhu dharti is the oldest and the most civilized nation. Moen-jo-Daro is a historical place, 5000 years old. Sindh has enormous beautiful places. It has a unique and a dominant culture in Pakistan, Sindhi Topi and Ajrak.
In darkest midnight, the Beloved
shows himself so clear;
the moon and Pleiades disappear
yea, like an echo mere.
While in the arena of love
care not for your life
" cut off your heads", says Latif
" place it before the Beloved"
Love is a dreadful snake
only those who are bitten would know it.

Patience, humanity adopt,

For anger is disease-
Forbearance bringeth joy and 'peace',
if you would understand.
Those poor love-stricken persons
They bear the pain gracefully
they believe not in half way
but look to the last stage( union)

The uninflicted know not the condition

of he inflicted ones
How do the love stricken persons live?
They get roasted for Beloved
and weep for union with him
Those who yearn for the Beloved
sleep not but pass the nigh in tears.

No jewels can the mistrel please
no wealth, no property-
From riches and from great rewards
His only wish is, near to be
the giver of this wealth.

True lovers never will forget

their love Divine, until one day
Their final breath will pass away
as tearful sigh

Dwell in mine eyes Beloved fair

That I can close them now;
No one may ever see you there
And I nought else shall see.

Go to the moth, the surest way

of immolation ask-
The moths, who throw themselves into
the fire every day;
Whose tender hearts became a prey
to cupid's arrow sharp.

True lovers never will forget

their love Divine, until one day
Their final breath will pass away
as tearful sigh.

Friendship by words they do profess;

an easy thing to do;
The proof will come when need and stress
the real friends will reveal.
