September Favourites

By Behindtheseclosedeyes @theseclosedeyes
I'm sitting here wondering how the best month of my life has flown by so quickly, but hey-ho, it's time for some more monthly favourites! I don't have many beauty favourites this month, simply because I've been using a lot of old favourites and also rediscovering some unloved products that weren't very suitable for the summer months. Now that the colder weather is setting in and the leaves are starting to fall, I've really been looking for higher coverage makeup and autumn inspired shades.

My skin has been in a bit of a weird transition phase between summer and autumn weather and this has left me with a mixture of dry patches and a very oily t-zone. I'm still looking for the perfect moisturiser to combat this but for the time being I've rediscovered my Revlon Colorstay foundation which does a great job of giving high coverage and also keeping the oil at bay. I have the normal/dry skin formula which means that the foundation doesn't emphasize my dry skin but still manages to mask any shiny areas of skin which is great.
Due to the heavier duty foundation that I've been reaching for this month, my skin is still in need of some brightening as the thicker foundation can leave my skin looking a bit dull. For that reason I've been absolutely loving the NSPA Illuminating Beauty Serum* which I apply all over my face before doing my makeup. This serum is lightweight which is perfect for my combination skin and the subtle golden shimmer running though it does a fab job of giving my skin a lovely glow during the colder months.
This past month I've really been taking the time to contour my skin and my product of choice has been the e.l.f Contouring Blush & Bronzer in St Lucia*. My paler skin makes it hard to find a good bronzer shade as most of them can look a bit muddy or orange on me, but the bronzer shade in this duo is a great color for me and the slight shimmer running through it is great for giving my cheeks a bit more life. The blusher shade is a gorgeous pink with subtle gold shimmer which I've also been enjoying this month. Full review and swatches to follow.
The most exciting addition to my makeup stash this month has definitely been the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette! As much as I love my shimmery eyeshadow shades, I'd really been craving matte shadows and finally decided to give in and buy this raved about palette. I've been using the palette every single day since it arrived and I've fallen in love with these matte shadows. The neutral shades are right up my street and the buttery formula of each shadow has made this palette an absolute joy to use. Full review and swatches coming soon.
My final favorite this month has been another rediscovery and it's the Revlon Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie. This berry shade is my go-to for autumn lips and the sheer formula means that it's great for everyday wear too. I seriously can't get enough of the Lip Butters and have my eye on a few more autumn appropriate shades like Candy Apple and Raspberry Pie.
What have you been loving this month?
