September {Classic Beauty} Ipsy Glam Bag Review

By Sassysweetstyle @ChaniaB

Sorry this is a little bit later than usual.

Ever since school has started back, things have been pretty hectic around our house.

Here are my thoughts on this month’s ipsy Classic Beauty glam bag.

There aren’t any pictures of me wearing the products because I kept forgetting.

butter LONDON Nail Lacquer in La Moss

{Sample size worth about $0.75}

Pros
  1. A gorgeous oxblood/red wine Fall shade.
  2. I had always wanted to try butter LONDON’s polishes but never wanted to pay the full price tag, so I was able to sample without breaking the bank.
Cons
  1. This applied horribly streaky & chipped after a day.
  2. Price tag is $15 for a full sized bottle.
Verdict

I will try this one more time without using the gel topcoats that I was using for the first application before making the final decision to try butter LONDON’s products again.

Cailyn Cosmetics Tinted Lip Balm in Big Apple

{Full size that retails for $19}

  1. Great Fall shade.
  2. Color stays where you apply {a lot of reds tend to me runny for me}.
  3. Uses a 3D Smart Film Former for long lasting coverage.
Cons
  1. I had to use several coats to get even coverage, even after exfoliating beforehand with a moisturizing balm.
  2. Bulky packaging, but it does come with a brush so that is a nice touch.
  3. Price tag, but since it comes with a brush it’s not as bad.
Verdict

I have yet to be disappointed by Cailyn products! I would love to use my discount to try out other shades if I had room for the large containers.

Elizabeth Mott It’s So Big Volumizing Mascara in Black

{Sample size worth about $8}

 Pros
  1. Does a pretty good job of lengthening.
Cons
  1. I would consider this more of a lengthening than a volumizing mascara.  On the website it recommends 10 coats to get the va-va-voom look I get with 2 coats of my Maybelline falsies mascara.  I don’t have time for 10 coats!
  2. Even after face-wash, coconut oil & eye makeup remover, I always have product left on my lashes.  Great if you do a lot of swimming or crying, but my eyelashes tend to start falling out if I can’t wash mascara off.
  3. Price tag.  I have used better products that are significantly cheaper.
Verdict

I’ll be finding a new home for this one!

NYX Single Eye Shadow in Cryptonite

{Full size that retails for $4.50}

nyx-cryptonite nyx-cryptonite

  nyx-cryptonite

 Pros
  1. Great sparkly gray shade that is perfect for smokey eye.
  2. Inexpensive.
  3. Buildable for a more dramatic look.
Cons
  1. Too tall for my makeup cube so I have to store on top.
Verdict

I’m pretty new to NYX because we just got an ULTA in our town this year, but so far I am loving NYX products! I can’t wait to try other shades.

Starlooks Kohl Eye Pencil in Obsidian

{Full size that retails for $12}

starlooks-riddle

starlooks-riddle Pros
  1. Glides on smoothly.
  2. I can never have too many black eyeliners.
  3. Smudges really easily if that’s the look you are going for.
Cons
  1. I haven’t used a Kohl eyeliner in at least 10 years since I’ve mostly used liquid.  Let’s just say I was out of practice. :)

  2. Price tag.

Verdict

This product was just OK for me.  I wouldn’t purchase because of the price tag & it is a good sized pencil so it will last forever.

Once again, ipsy gets 2 thumbs up from me!

I received roughly $44 worth of product from brands I have grown to know or have wanted to try for the bargain price of $10! Frugalista Happy Dance time! ;)

What did you get in your ipsy bag this month?
