Seville’s unique combination of Spanish and North African architecture makes the city a fascinating place to take a leisurely stroll or a horse and cart ride around the winding streets. Possibly the most iconic building is the Seville Cathedral, the largest gothic cathedral and the third-largest church in the world. Standing at an impressive 42 metres high from its central nave and covering 11, 520m this intricately designed building is simply breath-taking. A trip inside the cathedral is definitely worth it as you take in the true scale, architectural detail and the cathedral’s fascinating history. It is also possible to climb the bell tower, with stunning views of Seville from the top.
Spend an aftern
One famous feature of the landscape that courts considerable controversy is La Maestranza Bullring museum. Visitors are guided round the oldest bullring in Spain given a tour of its fascinating history showcasing trophies and paintings of famous bulls and bullfights. Although many of the younger generation in Spain abhor the sport it is an undeniable part of this region’s history (not that I am advocating the tradition).
For a more serene encounter there are a number of beautiful gardens to wander round, including the Parque de Maria Luisa, Jardin Americano and Jardines del Guadalquivir, all perfect for a romantic stroll. Enjoy the shelter from the trees as you explore the beautifully manicured grounds complete with statues, fountains and ponds.

For a more traditional dining experience venture to El Riconcillo, the oldest tapas bar in Seville, with an equally well established restaurant at the back. Choose from favorite Spanish meals including paella, sea bass and suckling pig. The interior of the restaurant is rustically Andalucian and your bar tab is even written in chalk on the bar. Take on a truly authentic Spanish tradition and sample iberico ham (cured ham) with a glass of sherry before your evening meal.
Spain is fantastic honeymoon destination and Seville holds a particularly special place in my heart. The beautiful and warm people, the glorious culture, the food and the atmosphere combine to make this city and this province a glorious and romantic escape .
