Seeking May Be Why You’re Missing It: People Skills

Recently for a Brian Trust I facilitate and present for – we spoke about vision – and I referenced a great book that helps a person understand the difference between purpose, vision, mission and values.

The book is by Kevin McCarthy and it’s called, The On Purpose Business.

McCarthy maintains that your purpose lives in your heart. So this quote by Hugo L. Black is of special interest to me today:

“It is the paradox of life that the way to miss pleasure is to seek it first. The very first condition of lasting happiness is that a life should be full of purpose, aiming at something outside self. As a matter of experience, we find that true happiness comes in seeking other things, in the manifold activities of life, in the healthful outgoing of all human powers.”

Not only is this beautifully said – and sometimes the older quotes are rather long – living in a 140 character world like we do now…

It is thought provoking – firstly – a paradox – which happens frequently in life – that seeking happiness or pleasure or fame or money – can be why we miss t hose things.

Today the challenge for us is this: To move toward purpose – the bigger and more outward focused part of life – and while you are be aware – is it happiness or pleasure you feel?

You Create Your Day by the way You Think! Be Present!

Go make it a Magnificent Day!

Blessings, Shawna
