The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has awarded the Craig Tara Holiday Park near Ayr with an Eat Safe Award, representing Scotland’s 1000th such food hygiene award since the scheme started back in 2005.
The Craig Tara Holiday Park was granted the award after all five of its eateries displayed excellence in everything from food safety management to food hygiene training, and all five were given the Eat Safe Award at the same time.
Many other holiday destinations across Scotland have also been given Eat Safe Awards for their eateries, including those on the Cal Mac ferries travelling from Oban. The awards are designed to recognise excellence in food hygiene and are only awarded if standards at an establishment are above and beyond those required by law.
Commenting on the achievement, Scotland’s 1000th Eat Safe Award, was the FSA in Scotland’s director Charles Milne, who said:
“I am delighted that Craig Tara has helped us reach this landmark. Eat Safe awards are only granted to premises that demonstrate the highest levels of food safety and hygiene. It is reassuring that more and more catering establishments recognise how much consumers care about food hygiene and are making this a top priority.”
