Scotch Cocktail: Bobby Burns

By Josh Peters @TheWhiskeyJug

The Bobby Burns cocktail is a super simple cocktail made from just three, well, technically four, ingredients. It combines the earthy-sweetness of a single malt Scotch with the complex herbaceousness of Benedictine and the warm sweetness of red vermouth. An expressed lemon peel adds some acid to help cut the sweetness a bit, making this a well-balanced cocktail.

My favorite time to make these, or order them, is after dinner. I think they make a great cap to a meal, but they also go well with an evening on the porch. If you don’t like making them in an up glass, the ingredients can easily be combined in a rocks glass and assembled like you would an Old Fashioned.
