Scandal

It is SO good to have Scandal back isn't it? The acting in the first 10 minutes alone was just out of control. The apple SO doesn't fall far from the tree in the Pope family. How intense is Olivia's dad? WOW! He came in to take care of business. For a second, I thought that Olivia was actually going to listen to her dad and a disappear, but c'mon, we knew there were 22 episodes ahead of us.  Olivia couldn't do what she does best from some secluded island, so with a little coaxing from Cyrus Beane, (who had to compete against Aaron Paul for an Emmy this year which is SO unfair), she got off that plane, told her dad the bad news, donned her awesome white coat, didn't eat, didn't pee, put on some lipstick and got right back to work. She used her secret code to meet with Fitz and Mellie in a beautifully furnished cement room, and figured out what seemed to be a good plan. Just when we thought we could all breathe a TINY bit easier, Olivia's team was hard at work with the best intentions, messing EVERYTHING up to help their boss. The good news...at least they now have a client to keep them busy right? Everyone else bailed...for now. I don't want to ruin it for anyone who hasn't watched the premiere yet, but were you shocked at who leaked Olivia's name? I was! Damn this show is good. I'd forgotten just how good.  

Parenthood

Sound the alarm, another Friday Night Lights alum added to the Parenthood cast. Jess, the girl who dated Vince, is running Christina's mayoral campaign. Is she the third person from FNL to show up in Berkley? Vince, Ryan and now Jess.  Wouldn't mind Riggins moving in to Sarah's building.  Anyway, Amber and Ryan dropped the wedding news on the family and of course Sarah's a bit concerned. She's biting her tongue big time for now and trying to support Amber, but you know that both of them are secretly freaking out and a blow out has got to be on the horizon.  Okay was it me? Sustainability volunteers at school? Really? Maybe in Berkley or L.A. that would fly, but can you imagine some kid eating his lunch with a plastic fork in the Bronx and getting dinged for it? Well actually, he'd stab you if you even mentioned it.  If that wasn't west coasty enough, the kale chips and a gluten free pizza order sent me over the edge. It must suck to have to put up with that on a regular basis. Where do we know Ed, Julia's sustainability partner from? He looks SO familiar. I may need to look that one up.  I sense trouble with this guy.  I hate to complain about one of the best shows on television, but no way Julia, the most competitive person in the family, would lose her volunteer sign up place in line,  to watch two kids, who could have been left alone all night let alone for a minute on school grounds, while their dad ran back to the car for their lunches. That made no sense. I guess the writers needed a way for Ed and Julia to be on the same volunteer team, but I'm sure they could have found a better, more logical way to do it.  One other thing I need to b*tch about: no way you're bringing a new born baby to dinner. Not one that seems to have colic, not a chance AND if you do, the second that baby cries, you leave. That was a bit much, even for Crosby. I feel guilty right now, but I had to vent. 

Glee

Okay I was literally screaming at my TV. What school has their prom in October? Was that the most ridiculous thing? The only thing I could think of as to why they were having their prom in October was to tie in the storyline to the movie premiere of Carrie. Could that be it? Tina Cohen Chang became a prom queenzilla and just had to win but then when she did, Bree and Tina's slave and the Cheerios dropped blood red slushy on her just like in Carrie.  Well, in Carrie it was animal blood but it was gross nonetheless. Sorry guys I had a huge problem with it all.  I did love all the Beatles songs this week and I absolutely died laughing at Sue's newest nickname gem for large lipped Sam: Samgelina Jolie. OMG laughing right now while I type it. Also hilarious, the tag line for the yeast infection commercial Santana scored: I like yeast in my bagel, but not in my muffin. Classic. Monistat should get on that one big time! Of course Rachel got the part in Funny Girl, I mean could you imagine the depression if she didn't. I guess that means we're all stuck with songs from the play all season long. Doesn't make me happy at all, but I'm not a huge Funny Girl/Barbra Streisand fan. Next week is the Cory Monteith episode. I got sad just watching the scenes. 

Vampire Diaries
Nice way to start out the season, Elena and a towel clad Damon together and Matt and Rebecca in Prague having a three way. Bonnie's still dead but using Jeremy to help NOT tell her friends and family. Katherine's alive, now human and a complete mess. Tyler's off helping some wolfpack and Stefan's still underwater, literally. Elena and Caroline were off to Whitmore College, Elena's dad's alma mater. A college with extremely large dorm rooms and refrigerators big enough to hold a weekly blood supply.  The girls were surprised to see Megan, their new roommate and even more surprised when they went to sample some of her protein water and found it was VervaneAde instead. Megan got killed by a vampire before episodes end. Bad news for Elena and Caroline, but I think they get A's for the semester so it all depends on your perspective I guess.  More bad news for our fave freshmen...hard to go to frat parties if you can't step foot in the frat house without a formal invitation. I actually found that funny. Jeremy's still home in Mystic falls and living with Damon since he burned down his own house.  Now that he's all juiced up and can really kick people's butts, he's being bullied? Since when? He never got bullied before. Silas isn't dead like we all thought he was. He's apparently Stefan's doppelganger and confusing everyone, especially the people of Mystic Falls who he can mass compell to do anything. Oh and he also felt the need slit Bonnie's dad's throat while she watched. He didn't even drink his blood. What a d*ck. 
NEWS & INFORMATION:

-I really can't stand Rachel Ray and her evoo, but a lot of people do like her.  Rachel's daytime show has been renewed for 2 more years. 2 more years of her and her annoying recipes. I've always been amazed at her success. I guess when you get touched by the Oprah stick it doesn't matter if you're annoying or not. 

-YEAH, The Roloffs, my favorite Little People in a Big World are coming back for an 8 episode season starting on October 29th. Hoping Google fixes my gadgets soon so I can add all the upcoming premieres to my list, but I'll make sure to remind you when Matt and Amy are back. I can't believe they're still together. They aren't calling this one Little People Big Divorce, so I'm guessing they're sticking it out through pumpkin season.  -Uh Oh...someone's in trouble over at FXX. Apparently that extra X is the issue. Exxon Mobil thinks those interlocking X's are a violation of their trademark and filed a lawsuit for NewsCorp to stop using the symbol.  Pretty sure Exxon has way more money than NewsCorp, but who has more lawyers on the payroll? 

Matt Lauer scored a big interview. He's got the new scary, Miley Cyrus bright and early Monday morning.  Miley's hosting SNL tomorrow night which could be interesting. It's late night, so she theoretically doesn't have to wear much. Here's a skit idea, I'm serious. Gene Simmons is the teacher. Miley and some of the other SNL'ers are the students in a rock-n-roll tongue class. I personally think it would be hilarious. Feel free to use that one guys. 

-Sleepy Hollow's a winner ratings wise, and is the first new primetime drama to get renewed. I definitely would have gotten that one wrong if I was betting on this stuff.  

-Also coming back, a 25th season of The Challenge on MTV. I've never seen one season, I had no idea there were 25. 

-For all of us Breaking Bad fans, good news for Walt Jr, aka RJ Mitte, he'll be joining the cast of Switched at Birth on ABC Family.  

-Congrats to Bravo for their best 3Q ratings ever. Those Real Housewives are ratings gold!  Bravo was up 12% year over year against total viewers and 10% against A18-49. 
Friday's Trivia Question: Olivia Pope's dad, Joe Morton has been in a ton of TV shows and movies, but the first TV show that I remember him in was the one he played Mike James on in the 90's. Name the show.
