SC Orders to Maintain CNG Prices Till Dec 20

Supreme Court of PakistanThe Supreme Court of Pakistan, issuing the directives to maintain the current prices of CNG until December 20, has ordered the Oil and Gas Regulation Authority (OGRA) and petroleum ministry to produce the record of rate on which sui gas companies procured gas.

During the hearing of CNG price case, the apex court also ordered the government to issue pricing policy guidelines.

A two-member bench of the apex court comprised of Justice Khilji Arif Hussain and Justice Jawwad S. Khwaja heard the case.

OGRA’s lawyer Salman Akram Raja presented a formula for pricing the CNG, which proposed CNG prices for Region I to be kept at Rs 73.96 per kilogram and for Region II at Rs 65.50 per kg. .

The bench said the apex court will not be directly involved in setting the prices but if the public is adversely affected, then it will interfere.

The hearing of the case has been adjourned till December 20.
