A few years ago Michael Jackson’s guitarist Orianthi came out with a full-length album that caught people’s ears. Well I had the pleasure of opening my email and seeing a email from Sarah D about her new EP called “Over You”. I mention Orianthi because her sound is almost like hers and I can see this singer/songwriter going places.
The Australian native came over to America to train with Michael Goodrich, which help her make her move over here to pursue her career in music. I have to say I am very glad she did that. She has done amazing work on this EP and I can’t wait to tell you why.
The EP starts off with a song called “Stand Up”. This song is why I mentioned Orianthi. The guitar riff just makes you want to keep on listening and then BAM!! The chorus comes in and you are singing along jumping around on your bed. This is a good song to have while you are driving in your car. In fact this whole EP is one you need to have in your road jam because it keeps you moving and it’s all really well done.
This whole EP like I said is pretty fast pace but she does she her slower side which helps show off her amazing vocals. The song I am talking about is called “Crying Over The Rainbow”. Yes the chorus of this song is a little bit faster tempo and there are a lot of instruments but it’s when the song first starts off its just her and the piano. During the start of the song is where you realize this girl can sing.
She also is able to show off all different sides of her. But the thing I notice is she has a little sass, which is a good thing when you are songwriter. Now she ends the EP with a song called “Make The World”. I think this is a good song to end this EP. It sums up the story that this EP is telling and it makes me want more from here. This is a little bit less electric/pop sounding which is nice to see yet another side. She has more of an acoustic songwriter vibe.
All in all this is a 4/5 star EP. I know I know if I love it so much and said it’s a must get why is it a 4/5 instead of a 5/5…well I just feel like there is something missing from these songs to make them perfect. I feel like Sarah will get there and I think this EP is a good start for her and it will help get her the fans that she needs to make it in this industry. This EP is available on CDBaby and iTunes. If you have heard of Sarah before tell us below what you think of her music.
