“Daedalus (What We Have)” is only the second track to be released by San Fermin, so it might be too early to call the band camber pop’s saving grace. San Fermin combine the soothing horn music of Belle and Sebastian with drawling vocals that approach Bill Callahan levels of melancholy. The structure of ”Daedalus (What We Have)” is reminiscent of the kind of digital orchestra mom created on their debut LP Yesterday Was Dramatic – Today Is OK, appropriated for chamber instruments. Thankfully, we won’t have to wait another eight months to hear something else from San Fermin; Pitchfork reports that the band’s self-titled debut will be out September 17 via Downtown.
