So… This is my final review of 2014 and to be honest I couldn’t have asked for a better 22 min of music. Sam Hunt @ The Horseshoe Tavern!
Sam Hunt – Horseshoe Tavern
Yes you read that right, Sam Hunt played the legendary Horseshoe Tavern on Queen Street in downtown Toronto for a short but yet powerful intimate show for some very lucky and by the sounds of the reaction very happy crowd.
We want to thank the fine folks at Universal Music Canada & Country Voice for inviting us into the event. Sam was to be in Toronto to film a special for CMT a month or so back but had to cancel last minute due to unforseen circumstances. Tonight Sam made good on that cancelled visit and performed for those lucky winners. For those not familiar with the Horseshoe Tavern it has hosted some the worlds biggest acts such as The Rolling Stones, Willie Nelson, Conway Twitty, Waylon Jennings, Loretta Lyn, along with Canadian icons Ian & Sylvia Tyson and The Tragically Hip to name a few. So needles to say this is a storied venue and to see one of musics hottest rising stars in such a great venue I have to say was something only this year could end on.
Sam hit the stage to Raised On It and lets just say he didn’t slow down from the minute he hit the stage till he stepped off. Now that was only 22 minutes but in that time he jammed in as much as he could with Ex to See, House Party, We are the Night, Take Your Time & Leave The Night On. Now I am a big fan of good songwriters and would have loved to hear Cop Car (Keith Urban) & Come On Over (Kenny Chesney) as well as Sam’s version of Strawberry Wine (Deanna Carter) but knowing the time was limited I knew it was a longs shot.
We would love to see Sam hit the stage for a full 1+ hour which for those that like to take road tours, this is possible when he hits the road this February on his first ever headlining tour and he will be bringing along Native Run for most of the tour. I have copied a link below to Sam’s website for those wanting to hit the open road with Montevallo & X2C cranked I am sure its a show you won’t want to miss.
I have also included some video from tonights show. Not the best but hey for those die hard Sam Hunt fans I am sure it will do.
