Sattu is flour basically prepared by dry roasted grams or grains. Sattu is quite popular in the state of Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Jharkhand, Bihar, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. In Bihar, Sattu is prepared with toasted gram flour but in Punjab, sattu is prepared with toasted ground barley. It is also known as desi Horlicks in the state of Bihar.
Sattu includes good amount of protein and fiber which is good for digestion and gives lots of energy. It even helps us in balancing our diet. Most of time sattu ka drink serves as namkeen sharbat but you can add small spoon of sugar also if you like little khatta meetha type drink.
Sattu is basically used for making litti chokha, sattu ka paratha, sattu ki kachori and many more dishes. But in summer the most popular way of having sattu is sattu ka thanda namkeen sharbat.
Salty Sattu Drink| Sattu Ka Namkeen Sharbat | Homemade Sattu Drink
Preparation Time: 10 Minutes Cooking Time: N A Servings: 3 Category: Beverages Cuisine: Bihar Cooking Method: No Cooking
Ingredients: 1/4 Cup Sattu/ Roasted Chickpea Flour 2 Tbsp. Mint Leaves 1 Tbsp. Lemon Juice Black Salt to Taste 1/2 Tsp. Black Pepper Powder 1/2 Tsp. Roasted Cumin Powder 4 Cup Chilled Water Ice Cubes as Needed Coriander Leaves, For Garnishing (Optional)
Instructions: Combine all ingredients in a pitcher or jug and mix well. Garnish with lemon wedges and coriander and mint leaves. Serve in individual glass with lots of ice cubes.
Notes: you can add 2 Tsp. sugar syrup also for khatta meetha flavor.
