Sailing Knots

By Sailingguide

One of the instructive but fun things I like to do when stuck inside for long winter months is practice the sailing knots I don't use very often so I don't forget them when they might be needed. You never know, when underway, when you suddenly might need to use a sheet bend to tie together two lines of different diameter or a taut-line hitch to be able to easily tighten or loosen a line's tension. You can forget these knots, especially if you've watched the sun sink over the yardarm for a few years too many! Here are a few of these essential knots. Or for fun, get a good knot book and while away the days while the snow flies - tying thing together in your house!
