Sad Eyes by Bruce Springsteen.

Posted on the 30 August 2012 by Melodicwisdom

I remember hearing this song on a television show about five years ago. I’m not really into Bruce’s music but I’ve always liked this one. Today I read the lyrics and never realized how much I can relate to them. I love this last part:

I know you think you’d never be mine
Well that’s okay, baby, I don’t mind
That shy smile’s sweet, that’s a fact
Go ahead, I don’t mind the act
Here you come all dressed up for a date
Well one more step and it’ll be too late
Blue blue ribbon in your hair
Like you’re so sure I’ll be standing here

Sad Eyes was released in November of 1998 from a special box set called Tracks. It was originally recorded in January of 1990. This particular set contained unreleased songs during Springsteen’s previous album sessions. In 1999, Enrique Iglesias recorded a cover version which made the the Top 40. Listen to his version HERE.
