Russian Railways Amends the Train Schedule for Upcoming Holidays

Posted on the 22 November 2012 by Mendeleyeev

We’re more than a month away from the start of the New Year and following Christmas holidays but wanted readers to be aware of several schedule changes for train service, especially visitors to Russia who are making travel plans. For Western readers, train travel remains the primary form of long distance travel within the Russian Federation and most of Eastern Europe.

Officials have said that train service will be cut back on New Year  for the routes of St. Petersburg – Moscow – St. Petersburg and the route of Moscow – Nizhny Novgorod – Moscow due to historical lack of demand from passengers during this period.

If more cancellations become available we’ll post those for readers. For up to date scheduling use this link.
