A while ago I was invited to a fantastic event by the lovely Tia from Roqaa PRfor a night of ping pong, pool and drink sampling at Leeds new hottest bar, Roxy Ballroom. I must say though, huge apologies on being so late with the post, I've been moving flats, trying to set up internet & I admit, this ended up in the never ending list of draft posts on my blogger account waiting to be published.
Roxy is in the perfect location, situated right in the center of town, in between the Wilkinsons & Café Nero near the new Trinity shopping centre, it's a bar easily accessible to people visiting the city. The bar would be only a two minute walk for visitors arriving by train, making it the perfect excuse for a swift drink if you're looking for a cool new spot to whet your appetite for cask ales, cocktails and fine wines.
So if you're wanting a unique drinking experience with friends, this fantastic new bar offers its punters the option of playing the much loved student drinking game beer pong as well as regular ping pong (which I can confirm is far harder than it looks) & pool on their stunning white felt top tables. One of my favorite things about Roxy was the raw warehouse feel, the exposed ceilings, stained glass and original graffiti walls were so individual. The owners of Roxy wanted to create an atmosphere the likes of an All American basement sports bar, which I definitely think they achieved.
One of my ultimate favorite aspects of Roxy would be the stairs and original front doors, the stairs are lined with old school cinema chairs, instantly giving the bar a cool retro feel. Roqaa PR spoiled us bloggers by renting the very swish VIP room, which includes your own pool table, ping pong table and oval glass front fridge of which can be stocked with anything you want for your own personal bar. Hiring the VIP area costs £20 an hour for one table, or £30 for both. However, the space can fit over 60 people in so split amongst a group would be great value for money.
If you however wish to venture out into the bar itself, ping pong is as little at £4.50 per half hour, and beer pong is free after buying 4 cans of beer. I know personally I would more than happily buy 4 cans of beer for the experience of playing such a fun game in a real bar rather than at home. The whole vibe in Roxys oozes a frat party vibe but in the center of the city.
