A group of Iliganon’s expressed their anger in a Facebook page over the rotating black-out that caused so much damage to their electronic properties. In fact, they formed an online campaign against it.
Reading from the different comments of the people they seem outrageously infuriated towards Iligan Light and Power Inc., (ILPI), the local electric company who served Iligan City for almost eight decades now. People seem to be blaming the said company as the culprit of this "unreasonable" black outs over the city of Majestic Waterfalls. In addition, one major reason is the fact that Iligan is the source of the hydroelectric power---it should not suffer longer blackouts.
Wow!!! It appears to me that the company's website got hacked? Try to view their website now! As you can see the company's name is now "Iligan Light and Palong, Inc., the word "palong" means "shut off" or "switched off" and the statement found below to describe the company appeared to be rephrased "For almost eight decades of existence, Iligan Light and Power, Inc. has proficiently (joking...problem?trollololol) served the City of Iligan"
I believe this is done by the angry consumers. Scary angry consumers! As of writing this article it seems that the company is not yet aware of this happening.
Infuriated consumers who are Online Professionals said that they lost their online jobs as among them are virtual assistants, online data entry workers, SEO optimizer and other related online jobs of which electricity is the basic need. The campaign photo above have reached to 155 shares (as of writing this article) on the web causing the number of people commenting on the said page to bubble up.
An article I found at Zamboanga Today Online showed that Iligan is not the only place experiencing a rotating blackouts. Moreover, the article explained as to what could be the real reason of the blackouts. Is ILPI to be blamed?
The article clearly stated that there is no more power supply as the Mindanao Regional Control Center (MRCC) is approaching zero (0) MW level in its contingency/operating reserve which include the Agus 4, 6, two power barge and the Western Mindanao Power Corporation.
Iligan Light and Power Inc., has nothing to do with the blackout. According to an insider, they only receive supplies from NGCP. They only receive directives from the NGCP. If NGCP will give supplies Iligan City will have its shares of power.
Proposed solutions to the angry consumers.
Since, electric power is scarce, I believe you should secure laptops with longer life batteries so you can work things while there is no electricity yet and submit your works when the electricity resumes.
To those consumers who complains over destroyed electric appliances. I believe securing a published schedule of blackout places found in ILPI website (or click here to have a copy of it) it's the best you can do in order for you to properly shut down or turn off your appliances before ILPI cut off the source.
