I’ve been on the go since I first arrived in New York on Friday night. Had trouble falling asleep that first night so I slept late on Saturday, had a light breakfast, got myself ready, and hoofed it down to Grand Central to catch a train. Our cousin’s son’s wedding took place about an hour north in Westchester County. The weather had suddenly turned too cool to wear what I’d packed for the event (a linen dress and cardigan) so I wore lightweight silk separates (jacket, pants and top, all EF, black and grey). I wasn’t really happy with this look for a wedding, but it was all that I’d brought that felt appropriate and was almost warm enough for a cool evening outdoors. C’est la vie.¯\_(ツ)_/¯ So no, I didn’t get a picture. The wedding itself was a casual backyard celebration (in a beautiful countryside setting) and the other guests wore everything from party dresses to cargo shorts and Hawaiian shirts.
Yesterday I spent a couple of hours working on future blog posts, and then set out to explore the immediate area.
The windows at Bergdorf-Goodman are always fun…
Sorry about the glare; there’s just no way to avoid it.
The weather’s turned warm again, so no Fall fashion to speak of on the streets yet, but I did do some Shoe Watching. LOTS of sneakers of all types still prevalent, including some with sequins or jeweled embellishments. On 5th Avenue, some of the more fashion-forward footwear selections…
The woman wearing these was (I’m guessing) in her 40’s and had a very Creative Fashionable style. When I asked her about her shoes, she said “they’re Miu Miu and SO comfortable!”
The women wearing these shoes were much younger, but I think it shows an interesting evolution of the sneaker trend.
This morning I’m going to try to see the “Manus X Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology” exhibit at The Metropolitan Museum. Later I’m scheduled to meet up with another blogger (someone I really admire and am thrilled to be meeting in person), and then another NY friend for cocktails. Tuesday one of my blogger Partners In Crime will be joining me from California for some hijinks. Stay tuned…
