Roman GianArthur is giving us nostalgia at its best in his new track “I-69.” The newcomer, from Janelle Monae’s Wondaland camp, released this retro-styled track via his social media and the folks seem to love it. The sounds are a fusion of 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and modern day r&b – with the crooning vocals, groovy bass line, Rhodes piano, synths, and electric guitar. The lyrics are to be interpreted any way you’ll take them, whether as a ride down the highway, or something a bit dirtier. This tune takes the format similar to Monae’s ArchAndroid album, with the guitar solos and dreamy effects. If you are a fan of Miss Monae then you should approve – in fact, the back vocals sound very much like her.
