It’s been announced that Anna Paquin’s “sequence” has been cut from X-Men: Days of Future Past, ultimately removing Rogue from the film. Apparently she was involved in a rescue sequence that involed Magneto, Professor X, and Iceman, where they were saving Rogue? Sounds like it was just a scene filmed to include her, and definitely nothing is going to be missed from it.
Director Bryan Singer explained: “It’s a really good sequence and it will probably end up on the DVD so people can see it. But like many things in the editing process, it was an embarrassment of riches and it was just one of the things that had to go. Unfortunately, it was the one and only sequence Anna Paquin was in, the Rogue character was in. Even though she’s in the materials and part of the process of making the film, she won’t appear in it.”
I know there are ton of fans of Paquin’s and Rogue’s that are disappointed by this news, but it doesn’t sound Rogue had a real purpose in the film, and while that’s close to the same roll she played in the previous films, it doesn’t hurt my feelings at all that she was cut. I’m just looking forward to this film next year.
