ABC and Marvel have confirmed that they have inked a deal for Robert Downey Jr to appear on the season finale of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.! ABC wanted to make sure that the ratings were strong enough for a second season so they put out the call to Downey Jr to appear as Tony Stark/Iron Man.
Downey Jr was quoted as saying that this was an honor to appear on the small screen after portraying Iron Man in the movies for so long. ”TV just adds another layer of depth to this character,” he said.
It has been reported that he was paid $4,012,014 for the appearance. I’m not sure why he was paid such an odd amount, but I imagine that it must have some significance.
