The Ritz Carlton Sanya Yalong Bay Hainan, has one of the most visual Ritz Kids Clubs I have seen, when I visited the sprawling resort in 2014, I could not forget seeing the center with its own kids pool, pirate ship ready for any able bodied pirate to climb around and set their imagination on fire, I went down to the ground floor to peek inside and the kids were getting ready for Halloween, all dressed up with painted faces, pumpkins and off on a Halloween walk about around The Ritz Carlton Hotel, this visit I was determined to go in and see how this innovate kids clubs looked after around 150 kids a day, during peak season.

Franco Guo Guest Activities Assistant Manager leads a team of 14 staff who are all handpicked to work with these young guests, “all of the team have yearly training in First Aid and Life Saving,” said Guo “I choose my team for the amount of responsibility they demonstrate,” this is a key attribute when looking after such young guests who ages range from 3 to 10. The signature Ritz-Carlton Kid’s Club has separate children’s pool and playground offering games and toys, young guests will be thrilled with a variety of daily activities and have fun with the well trained and friendly local cultural host/hostess. The activities board looks like something you would see on a cruise ship, a list of never ending different creative activities for kids of all ages to choose from, pizza and cupcake making, cooking lessons, bracelet making to hikes on the beach.

When children run, jump, roll, throw, catch, or swing they are building muscles. They burn energy that makes them tired and hungry. Physical play improves strength, endurance, and balance. Body coordination improves when children play in physical ways. Physical play helps children sleep and eat better. Playing helps children learn and grow in a way that helps them feel good about themselves. Children enjoy play, it is easier to learn when we are relaxed, and they remember things they have done when the things were fun. One very important thing we have maybe taken away from children as technology has been put in their hands is to develop their imagination when they play. While walking through the Ritz Kids center they were all quite happily playing with toys and using their imagination to create stories interacting with other children, learning to follow directions and no iPads, iPhones or other electronic gadgets to keep children isolated.

Chloe one of Franco’s team, was trained by The Ritz Carlton Sanya Yalong Bay to work alongside the young guests, she has such a caring manner and friendly appearance she told us that the age group of 6 – 8 can be very playful so you need to understand how to keep their attention and motivation going while they are in the club, so their experience is a positive one. Franco’s team makes lots of observations that are used to create activities and constantly develop the experience these young guests take away with them.
