Rimmel’s New Ora

By A Beauty Feature @abeautyfeature

Rimmel London is a magnet for pouty-lipped, razor-cheek boned models who epitomise the ultimate in beauty while also boasting rock and roll credentials we can only dream of. The inimitable Kate Moss and gap-toothed glamazon, Georgia May Jagger front current campaigns.

New to the roster is pop siren Rita Ora. INXS might have labelled her the ultimate ‘Suicide Blonde’ with peroxide tresses that remind me of the all-time bad girl, Mae West. Ora has found her ‘look’ and resolutely stuck to it. Cherry red lips, black cat’s eye liner and a matte, flawlessly pale complexion. It’s as if she walked straight off a 1940s film-noir movie into a hip hop video.

Rita’s fans, or ‘Ritabots’, will be racing for the counters to get hold of the new Colour Rush Lip and Nail Collection. There’s nothing fly-by-night about the colour palette. Rita has taken the classic, suits-all-complexions reds, nudes and brights and given them the modern pop star flavour by adding a few electro-bright shades for fun.

The 60 second nail range combines dark glamour with shades of summer. Rita Rouge is a deep, burgundy that has echoes of Chanel’s classic Vamp. Midnight Rendezvous is aubergine verging on indigo blue. There are pops of fuschia pink, Caribbean orange and snowflake white.

The Lasting Finish Colour Rush Balms are ultra-moisturising crayons that defy all your talking, drinking, eating and singing to keep your lips lusciously hued for hours. Elsa Schiaparelli would certainly approve of the wickedly neon pink Rumour Has It, while the fairy floss Make Me Blush has fair-skinned girls falling in love. Drive Me Nude is a latte beige, while I Want Candy is a gentle coral-tinged pink that will flatter pale and olive skin tones. As the campaign declares, the lip and nail options are “so hot, they’re cool.”
