Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation Review

By Sassysweetstyle @ChaniaB
voxbox-blogimage-popup2 I appreciate the the opportunity to review the following product.
All thoughts & opinions are my own.

Ever since freckles {the splotchy kind, NOT the cute kind} decided to explode on my face this year, I have been trying foundation after foundation to cover them up without irritating my super sensitive & fair skin.  I tried drug store, department store & even spent $100 on a bottle of foundation {I know, crazy right?!} in an attempt to find the perfect coverage.  After trying many, I ultimately ended up returning to my Holy Grail foundation. Since they quit selling it in the states in the early 200o’s, I had to special order from Ireland.  Much to my dismay, my beloved foundation is now twice the price with half the product & I have to order at least 2 sticks so I don’t run out.

When I received the opportunity from Influenster to try out Rimmel London’s new Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation before the product hits the shelves in January 2014, I was STOKED! I have been using Rimmel London products for years, but have never tried their foundations because the shades were always too dark for my Cullen-ish skin.  When I saw several Ivories & even Light Porcelain on the shade list, I knew the chances were good of finding a match.  A more convenient & affordable drug store foundation from a brand I already know & love?! Count me in!

Rimmel promises that their new Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation is:

  • Feather light
  • Oil free
  • Never heavy or greasy
  • Delivers all day shine control
  • Blends flawlessly for a natural looking matte finish
  • Minimizes the appearance of pores

So is the weight over? Did shine meet its matte?

I received Rimmel London’s Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation in Light Ivory {will be available in 8 shades}.  I was SO sure I was going to get Light Porcelain based on my Influenster survey responses, but I was sent the Light Ivory.  When I opened the tube I was CERTAIN it was too dark for me, but I was going to try anyway just to see.  Boy was I ever wrong.  The shade was PERFECT! **Applause to Influenster & Rimmel!**  Since the foundation was super thick, I decided to apply with a stippling brush.

Just tell yourself it is an ‘S’ like Stay or Soft Serve not the more colorful one. ;)

Pros

  1. Goes on extremely smooth with or without primer.
  2. Medium coverage but buildable to full coverage {gotta cover up those freckles!}.
  3. Matte finish as promised.
  4. Controls shine for at least 8 hours even in my shine prone T-Zone.
  5. Did not irritate my sensitive skin.
  6. Did not transfer to clothes easily.
  7. Price tag. It is currently for sale in the UK for $5.99 so it should be around $8 here.
  8. No strong fragrance.

Cons

  1. It won’t be available for purchase in the US until January 2014 if I run out.
  2. I would prefer a pump dispenser over a tube.

Verdict

I am in LOVE! This beat the pants off of all of the other foundations I have tried this year & I can’t believe it feels so light on my skin! Now I just have to cross my fingers it lasts until January!

Ready to see what it looks like on?

I replaced the BB Cream & Powder with the Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation in my 5 Minute Face routine.

I didn’t use any Photoshop magic because the camera captured the foundation the way it looks in real life. {That it would save SO much time if it did that all the time BUT I’m pretty amateur. ;) }
