Vancouver duo WMNSTUDIES have remixed Rhye’s sad and soulful “Open” into something danceable – something almost tropical. But is it truly sacrilege? Fans of Rhye’s incredible Woman LP may not be to pleased at the prospect of an almost club friendly remix of one of the album’s highlights, but they should definitely give the track a chance. WMNSTUDIES’s version actually manages to do something that few remixes do: complement and even accentuates the pain and longing of the original.
