Reviews of Reviews: The Week of January 7th, 2013

By Johntalbott

Monday, in Le Figaro, Francois Simon “tested” the ephemeral restaurant in the Eiffel Tower where lunches (at 11h30 and 13h30) are 31.90 and dinner 85.50 E are cooked by one of Ducasse’s seconds, serving things like chestnut soup, chicken filet and panna cotta.

Monday-Tuesday, in A Nous Paris, Jerome Berger gave 4/5 dots to the previously mentioned Richer in the 9th; while Philippe Toinard gave 2/5 to the creperie Tant qu’il y aura des Bretons, 1, rue de Billancourt, Boulogne in the 9nd, 01.46.99.01.61, closed Sunday and Monday, costing 14.90 for lunch and 20-30 E for dinner.

In Le Fooding on Tuesday Yves  Nespoulous posted a review of the Bar a vins/cave a manger La Buvette, 67, rue Saint-Maur in the 11th, 09.83.56.94.11, closed Mondays only and open non-stop on weekends, costing less that 15 E for a range of bar food items such as sausages and cheese.

On Wednesday, in Figaroscope Emmanuel Rubin also reviewed and gave two hearts to La Buvette (a Camille) and the same rating to Pouic Pouic, 9, rue Lobineau in the 6th, 01.43.26.71.95, closed Sunday at dinner and Mondays, with a 16 E formula at lunch, a la carte 30-35 E for raviolis of langoustines with foie gras, sweetbreads and French toast.  Two places merited one heart: the franco-russe Ikra in the 6th and the Office-offshoot Richer in the 9th.  A broken heart went to Le Petit Daru in the 16th.

The Dossier this week by Alice Bosio, Hugo de Saint Phalle and Colette Monsat dealt with the growing number of good places in the 18th:

La Rallonge
Il Brigante
Coq Rico
Au Clocher de Montmartre
Antoine de Montmartre
Jour de Fete
Sens Unique
Chez Frezet
La Guepe
And at the last minute – Floors & Jeanne B.

Francois Simon, though strayed from Montmartre to revisit the Repaire de Cartouche where of course he says to go.

This week in L’Express, Mina Soundiram wrote up the rue Faubourg-Saint-Denis and its snacking food from hot dogs to Kurdish pizza.

Finally on Saturday, in his Croque-notes, Francois Simon reported on a publication  « 200 adresses a defendre » in « Bourgogne Magazine ».  And, in a  two page spread,  Colette Monsat, Francois Simon and Emmanuel Rubin wrote about all the new restaurants that will appear in 2013, brought to you by Marc Veyrat, Guy Savoy, Michel del Burgo, Enrico Bernardo, Yves Camdeborde, Le Peninsula, Frederic Peneau and Yannick Alleno as well as trends : beets, the menu unique, burrata, yuzu, name dropping, hot-dogs and food trucks.
