Metallic tattoos are all the rage now for the past year, as they make the perfect no-fuss body jewellery! So, imagine my delight when I found that Shiny Happy People exclusively stocked them here in Malaysia! I discovered these awesome metallic temporary tattoos when Shiny Happy People were selling them at the Carousell's Pop-Up Bazaar in Kuala Lumpur on 8-9 November 2014.
The above Shiny Happy People metallic tattoo sheets are sold for RM20 each. There's a wide range of them being sold. I was extremely pleased with how long the tattoos could last on the skin, the longest was for 2.5 weeks on my arm! Of course, if you put the tattoos on high contact skin areas (eg. fingers), the tattoos wouldn't last as long.
I met up with the founder, Michelle, of Shiny Happy People, and here's a short interview I did with her:
Q: So, Michelle. Do tell us something interesting about yourself.
A: I am a business major undergraduate. I also do stand-up comedy! Do catch me at the Crack House, TTDI at 9pm on Sundays where I do open mic. It's on the same row as Artisan in TTDI, on the 1st floor.
Q: That is pretty awesome. Alright, so when did you start Shiny Happy People?
A: One year ago. As I loved jewellery, I saw the practicality of metallics tattoos but these metallic tattoos were not sold in Malaysia. It was an idea I wanted to bring into Malaysia and so I looked for suppliers. In two weeks, Shiny Happy People was up and running!
Shiny Happy People tattoos (Birds of a Feather)Q: That's amazing! Is this a one-woman show?
A: Yes, well and with my boyfriend who helped to set things up.

A: Well, it would be catered mostly to younger people, creative people, etc. Yoga enthusiasts love to customise these tattoos with their outfits. I can see this all over Urbanscapes!
Q: Do you design the tattoos?
A: Not yet, as it is still work in progress. Hopefully soon! In the future I would love to work and collaborate with other local artists and designers.
Q: How's business so far?
A: It's been great! In the beginning, When I was forecasting predictions for the first few months of business, it was a very modest estimate but the response thus far has been amazing! The power of blogging, social media (like Facebook and Instagram), selling at the Carousell pop-up bazaar in November 2014...it was a combination of all of this that led to great sales.
Q: So how old exactly is this business?
A: 3 months!
