I am a big fan of Josie Maran Cosmetics. Josie Maran is a big time supermodel who's started this eco friendly brand based on community trade with the Moroccan Argan Oil. Argan Oil derived from Argan nuts is specific to Morocco and is also called as liquid gold due to its healing properties which are way much amplified and is the secret behind the pretty looking Moroccan women. Josie is such a icon herself and I have always liked her. Her cosmetics being very difficult to procure, I got this lovely Cream blush from a friend who had crossed the seven seas.Cream blushes are incredibly nice to impart that much coveted dewy glow. Plus if you have skin nourishing ingredients, then its a boon in a box (like genie in a bottle). Talk about the dewy glow, the little pinched up cheeks effect and of course the long lasting power, Josie Maran Cream Blush has it all.So lets have a look at this beautiful blush..............Josie says............
What it is: For naturally glowing cheeks, this is the cream of the crop. An infusion of 100% Pure Argan Oil makes it super-easy to blend and build; the flawless, sheer color comes in three subtle shades. When people ask why you look so radiant, just smile like the cat that got into the cream. Why I love it: The velvety-smooth texture gives skin an airbrushed finish, and the compact is pretty and portable. What’s in it: 100% Pure Argan Oil makes my cream blush weightless, absorbent, and beautifully blendable. Flax seed, jojoba seed, and avocado oil lend your face a dewy, plant-based glow. What’s not in it: Parabens, artificial fragrances, sulfates— never. No way.How I use it: I use my fingertips to blend a smidgeon of blush onto the apples of my cheeks, then reapply to intensify the color.PACKAGING
Josie Maran Cream blush comes in this lovely beigey mauve packaging and is a teeny weeny product that will sweetly perch wherever its kept. The compact container is a rich lilac beige color and holds on to 2.5 gm of the product. I believe that these blushes are meticulously poured into compacts and left for drying until firm (I believe this one is stuck in a pan). The packaging overall is basic and has a slight earthy heathered edge to it.
FORMULA
The creme blush feels a little drier for the way a cream blush should feel. This could be attributed to the heaviness of the Argan oil as well. Lets not ignore the Carnauba wax and the Castor Oil base The product feels quiet light weight on the skin even after being so heavy in the compact. It glides on skin like butter, imparts a lovely glow and trust me, this glow stays on for a while (at least 4 hrs to be precise after which there is slight fading exactly after 5 mins......PJ). The blush is not very very pigmented which is fine as its good for layering over. I also prefer using it as a top coat over a powder blush to add dewiness, the major advantage being its seamless blendability into the skin. It has a slight Argan fragrance which comes naturally with the oil mixed with the fragrance of the castor oil.
On application, the blush moisturizes the skin and keeps it feeling soft and supple for quite a while. The only problem is you cannot wear this blush outdoors as it may attract some unwanted grime and cause mayhem on the skin.
COLOR
Sunrise has a beautiful light peony-orchid pink color that is as beautiful to the eyes as beautiful it is on application. On cheeks it translates into a sheer transparent rosy flush and has quite a reflective shiny finish. I prefer to use this one alone (even on myself as its natural) or as a highlighter over a berry pink blush like Guerlain's Pink Punk to get a dewy finish. It changes the complexion dramatically.
PRICE and AVAILABILITY
They sell for $22 plus taxes on their site www.josiemarancosmetics.com
I recommend this blush to anyone who wants to sport a healthy glow without too much of effort. This is a very good product for teenagers in their college going years albeit the acne prone may have to avoid this. This is quite a playful blush and using it for professional usages seems a bit challenging as the reflective patterns are much more visible to the naked eye than the camera lens. On camera, it could translate as oiliness (its the photographer's job).
This is indeed a beautiful day wear blush though..Hope you liked the review. Let me know in the comments.
Till then,
Ciao
