Reading Anna Karenina

So, I have to be honest, I haven't been reading. I’ve had so many projects to do so I've been using them as an excuse not to read. On my free time, instead of reading, I watch shows like Young & Hungry. For those who know the show, isn't it awesome? It's so weird watching Lily in another role.
But back to reading … Yeah so ...  I haven't been doing it. I'm still on page 283 but today I am going to push myself to at least read a page. I think the main reason why reading this book is a struggle, apart from it being really drawn out, is my goals. I set really high goals for myself. The other day, I told myself that I was going to read 20 pages. Can you believe it? 20 PAGES! It’s like I forget how hard it is to read the book. 20 pages is A LOT of pages, especially when the book isn’t all that interesting.
People always say that the classics are amazing but I really don’t get it. Ok, the writing is good, but the story can be so dull. I’ve attempted reading other classics in the past and I’ve ended up with the same result. When I was reading Crime and Punishment, I was getting frustrated because the book went on and on about little details, instead of moving the story forward. I should also note that I am scared of anything related to horror and I have a great imagination.
So, Crime and Punishment probably wasn’t the best choice. I started seeing myself in the place of the character and getting into him mind, which freaked me out. So I took a ton of breaks before I could read further. It’s probably not even that scary but I’m the girl who has to watch a happy video before going to bed.  If I watch even the slightest psychological/horror movie I need to watch at least 3 happy videos.  It’s not something I share with everyone, since people like to test how scared you can get.
If you were wondering, I didn’t finish that book either. But there is one classic that I managed to finish, which I still love till this day: Madame Bovary. It’s actually the reason why I am on this quest. I assumed that since that book was good, I should give others like it a try, hence why I am reading Anna Karenina.
My procrastination ends today!  I will set a simple goal this time. I promise to read 10 pages today and write about my progress. I know I can do this. I just need the motivation, so help me out! I’m just going to keep telling myself that I can do this every time I am about to click on a link for a TV show instead of reading. I CAN DO THIS. YOU CAN DO THIS EFUA! IT’S JUST TEN PAGES. JUST TEN BORING PAGES. I’ll let you know how things go. All the gruesome details. Share your experiences reading this book. Don’t be stingy!
Sending you hugs and kisses :)
