Rare DOCTOR WHO Prop from Classic Series Sells for More Than £5,000 at Auction

Autons_attackThis rare fiberglass Auton mask that was featured in the 1971 Terror of the Autons recently sold at auction for £5,154 ($6,832.40), and the the owners didn’t even know what they had originally.

The owners of the prop, Tim and Chris Smith, from Luton, were given the mask by their father, who worked for Studio Transport in the seventies.  The Auton head was sitting on the shelf above the desk of their father’s manager.

‘One day the boss told my dad, ‚ “You’ve got kids. Why don’t you have this and scare them with it”. said Tim.

Prior to realizing the prop’s worth, both boys used to play with the prop, which was sold to an Australian buyer through an online auction.
