Rapture all but guaranteed tonight at Ottawa Bluesfest!

Kim Perry takes a chainsaw to a tree in The Band Perry’s video for “Chainsaw”

It’s hard to believe that we are already on day 7 of 10 of the big 20th Anniversary Party at RBC Royal Bank Ottawa Bluesfest, that said there is still plenty of phenomenal live entertainment to be seen and heard.  No doubt with tonight’s lineup you may experience rapture which hopefully won’t make you die young but if you do you might want to dig two even if you turn a whiter shade of pale.  Once upon a time I got a postcard from Paris with a picture of a chainsaw which made me see the light so I believe that not attending Bluesfest tonight would be a night gone wasted!

The night’s entertainment kicks off with Procol Harum at 7pm a band known world-wide for their smash hit “Whiter Shade of Pale” joins the NAC Orchestra on the Bell Stage for what is one of the most anticipated performances of this summer’s event.

The definition of Rapture is “a feeling of intense pleasure or joy” it’s all but certain that this will happen at RBC Royal Bank Ottawa Bluesfest tonight.  Not just that but there’s also a really good chance that Blondie will perform their song “Rapture” when they headline the Claridge Homes Stage tonight at 8pm.

Tonight’s Bell Stage headliner, The Band Perry, won’t need their chainsaw to carve their names on your hearts.  I covered their performance last summer at Boots and Hearts and if they show up tonight with a fraction of the energy they had last summer one thing is certain, fans in Ottawa are in for a treat.  This family trio had originally been scheduled to appear at the 3rd annual Capital Hoedown in the summer of 2012 but unfortunate events came to pass and the event never took place.  Certainly many fans will have made the short trip to Bowmanville last summer but there are still, without a doubt, many that were unable to make the trip so tonight’s performance will be two year’s in the making.  To benefit the fans the trio comes hot on the heels of the release of their second studio album “Pioneer” which, we believe, showcases their best work to date.  Had they come to Ottawa when they were originally scheduled to appear it would’ve been a year prior to the release of the album.   Kimberly, Reid and Neil take to the Bell Stage at 9:30pm and you’re not going to want to miss them!
